Savannah, GA, May 8, 2023 — Brasseler USA Surgical, a leader in the surgical and dental supply markets, announced today the acquisition of the intellectual property and other assets associated with Palix Medical’s VersaDriver Pneumatic Osteotome System. This system offers orthopaedic surgeons a power-driven solution to facilitate removal of cemented and non-cemented implants in both knees and hips.
The VersaDriver technology strategically positions Brasseler USA Surgical to offer both a powered acetabular cup removal system and a powered stem removal system in the surgical orthopaedics market. The VersaDriver system was featured alongside the Brasseler Surgical EZX System earlier this year at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) 2023 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV.
The VersaDriver Pneumatic Osteotome System features the VersaDriver hand piece with accessories and six osteotome blades to aid in cutting control and effective removal of cemented and non-cemented implants. Each blade is designed to remove implants quickly and efficiently, providing controlled single or multi-strike cutting actions, without heating the bone, melting cement, or generating noxious smoke or fumes.

Launched in 2021 at AAOS’ Annual Meeting, the EZX Acetabular Cup Removal System features proprietary design, enabling easy access for the removal of cemented and non-cemented acetabular cups during hip revision surgery. The system utilizes powered technology with a single rotating blade to reduce surgical procedural time and the risk of acetabular fractures. The 29 blade options make a precise cut with predictable results to help minimize bone loss.
